XMM-Newton observations of Fermi detected pulsars

We propose to make XMMNewton observations of six pulsars detected with theFermi LAT to increase the number of pulsars for which good Xray, gammaray andradio data exist in order to constrain the mechanism which generates the pulsarhigh energy emission. For four of the proposed pulsars this will be the firstobservation in Xrays. We will use both the spectra and phasefolded lightcurvesto discriminate between differing models for the high energy emission such asthe polar cap, slot gap or outer gap models. XMMNewton is the only observatorywith sufficient collecting area and high enough timing resolution to detectthese pulsars and to obtain the spectra and lightcurves, necessary todiscriminate between the high energy models. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
