Spokane WA Earthquake Swarm

On 25 June 2001 a magnitude 3.9 earthquake occurred at a shallow depth beneath the city of Spokane. This event inaugurated a swarm of microearthquakes. By 28 June, the Pacific Northwest seismo. Net. had located nearly 20 microearthquakes underneath Spokane. Residents of Spokane were feeling earthquakes with mags. less than 2, indicating that the swarm source region was quite shallow. Spokane lies on the eastern edge of the regional network, so the network-based hypocentral locations for these events were subject to relatively large uncertainties. The data from this deployment will be merged with data from the regional network.
