Sequencing full genomes of clostridium difficile isolates from natural environments. Clostridium difficile genomes in natural environments

The bacterium Clostridium difficile is a significant cause of nosocomial infections worldwide. In addition to humans and animals, C. difficile has also been isolated from natural environments such as water and sediments where multiple strain types (ribotypes) are found in close proximity. The current study aims to analyze about the genomic content of strains in such reservoirs in the natural environment, and their potential contribution to the emergence of new strains in clinics.
