资源简介:
As the world's glaciers continue to melt the ocean slowly floods the coastal lands of North Carolina. This results in the ongoing upward and landward migration of the shoreline- -a process better known as shoreline erosion. This guide, one in a series written for community planners, managers, and property owners, provides key concepts in understanding the various types and rates of estuarine shoreline change from a geologist's perspective. Using this guide, public property managers and private property owners should be able to characterize specific sections of North Carolina's estuarine shoreline and determine the erosion potential. Data and analyses are presented for estuarine systems throughout the state. Included are numerous maps, tables, diagrams, and photos.
