This dataset includes the data required to estimate and compare the wind-driven flow to the buoyancy-driven flow, within the Nova Scotia Current (Canada) and the Norwegian Coastal Current (Norway).
For each domain (i.e., the Scotian Shelf and the Norwegian Shelf), the dataset is composed of
(1) NETCDF files extracted from ECMWF ERA-Interim database, from which wind speeds are extracted in the study, and
(2) text files including temperature and salinity measurements collected along the different sections used in the study, for the period 1997-2014.
Sections and sampling protocols are described in the accompanying literature included in the dataset.
Additionally, the dataset includes csv-files for temperature and salinity observations collected by underwater Slocum gliders over the Scotian Shelf for the period 2011-2014.
