Transect and Overstory Data from the 2024 Department of Defense Wildland Fire Science Initiative Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Campaign

To characterize fine-scale variations in vegetation structure, quantify heterogeneity, and capture fuel estimation and consumption, transects were utilized to sample overstory, coarse woody debris, fuel types, and fuelbed heights across the E11.5 and E16 units. This dataset provides transect data collected before (January 2024) the prescribed burns.This dataset is part of the Wildland Fire Science Initiative (WFSI) research burn campaign held at Fort Stewart from February 8 to 10, 2024. In addition, pre- and post-fire data collection occurred before and after these dates.
