Geologic Province Map of the World

This data set is the digital geologic province layer map of the world. The data set includes arcs, polygons, polygon labels, and attributes for geologic provinces, as defined by the U.S. Geological Survey. The PROVWRLD coverage was obtained by the Cornell University GIS Group from USGS Open-File report 97-470C. The World Province coverage was edited by Cornell to conform with the Cornell GIS. The information in this metadata file includes infomation supplied in the original dataset metadata as well as information about edits performed by the Cornell GIS.
