Global Tourism Ecolabels – Compilation and Characteristics related to waste management and coastal litter (February 2025)

This dataset is under embargo until the associated publication is released. This dataset contains a compilation of 142 active tourism ecolabels worldwide, as of February 2025. It was developed as part of a scientific study to assess which ecolabels apply environmental and pollution-related criteria in the tourism sector, to assess whether ecolabels can be applicable to reduce beach litter.A subset of 24 ecolabels was selected for detailed analysis in an associated publication. The dataset includes information on:- Ecolabel name- Country or region of application- Tourism sectors covered (e.g., accommodation, beaches, tours)- Number of criteria- Standards followed (e.g., ISO, GSTC, EU Ecolabel)- Pollution-related criteria included- Link to official website or source
