The complete genome sequence of Staphylococcus aureus SH1000. Staphylococcus aureus strain:SH1000

Staphylococcus aureus SH1000 is part of the 8325 lineage, which includes the progenitor strain S. aureus NCTC 8325 and its genetically-manipulated derivative 8325-4, from which SH1000 was also obtained by reinstating an intact rsbU gene.rsbU encodes a regulator of sigma factor B, which in turn regulates a number of virulence-associated loci. For this reason, SH1000 has become a model organism for staphylococcal research.While the chromosome of 8325 has been sequenced, complete genomic data for 8325-4 and SH1000 is lacking and the two strains are currently considered to be genetically identical to 8325 (aside from the respective genetic manipulations).The aim of this project is to determine the full genetic sequence of S. aureus SH1000.
