中国长时序主要城市扩展遥感监测数据集涵盖了4个直辖市、28个省会（首府）城市、2个特别行政区以及41个其他城市（含5个计划单列市）在内的75个主要城市1972-2024年的建成区现状及扩展过程监测矢量数据。
中国长时序主要城市扩展遥感监测数据集从城市行政级别、人口规模、区域分布等多个角度系统、全面地揭示了中国城市扩展的时空规律及驱动机制。数据全面展示了不同土地利用类型转变为城镇用地的过程，有利于从区域土地利用整体的角度分析城市用地规模变化和影响，同时支持以重点解剖的方式开展区域土地利用研究，能够为我国新型城镇化及粮食安全相关政策制定、为优化国土空间格局及国土空间纲要编制提供科学数据基础。

The Long-term Time-series Remote Sensing Monitoring Dataset of Major Urban Expansion in China includes vector data of the current status and expansion process of built-up areas for 75 major cities from 1972 to 2024, covering 4 municipalities directly under the Central Government, 28 provincial capitals (including autonomous regional capitals), 2 special administrative regions, and 41 other cities (including 5 cities with independent planning status).
This dataset systematically and comprehensively reveals the spatiotemporal patterns and driving mechanisms of urban expansion in China from multiple perspectives such as urban administrative hierarchy, population size and regional distribution. It fully displays the transformation processes of various land use types into urban land, which helps analyze the scale changes and impacts of urban land from the perspective of overall regional land use, supports regional land use research via in-depth case studies, and provides a scientific data basis for formulating policies related to China's new-type urbanization and food security, as well as optimizing the national land spatial pattern and compiling the national land spatial planning outline.
