Synchytrium endobioticum strain:18(T1) Genome sequencing and assembly

There are over 40 Synchytrium endobioticum pathotypes described so far. Identification of those pathotypes have been using laborious inoculation assays of differential potato cultivars. In an attempt to develop molecular markers, whole genome shot gun sequencing of pathotype 18, was performed. By using the sequences molecular diagnostic techniques were developed to complement the use of differential cultivars to successfully catalogue the different S. endobioticum pathotypes
