"In April 2007, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted a cultural resources survey of
the proposed Old Fort Drive Extension Project in Dorchester County, South Carolina. This work
was conducted through the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) in advance
of road construction activities. ... The Senior Architectural Historian conducted an intensive architectural survey of all
buildings and structures within a 300-foot-wide area to each side of the proposed centerline of
the Old Fort Drive Extension Project. This 600-foot-wide area is the architectural survey
universe. The archaeological survey universe extends 75 feet on either side of the centerline of
the existing portion of Old Fort Drive. The archaeological survey universe for the proposed Old
Fort Drive Extension extends 50 feet on either side of the staked centerline and is 100 feet wide
along its entire length. Investigators examined the archaeological survey universe through
surface inspection and systematic shovel testing. ..."
