Generation and Mechanistic Exploration of Novel Conformation-specific Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa Biologics for Targeting Activated Platelets

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death globally. Current treatments aim to dissolve the blood clots that cause stroke, but they do not always work and can increase the risk of dangerous bleeding. In this thesis, we develop a new type of stroke drug that specifically targets and dissolves these dangerous clots without increasing the risk of bleeding. We also explored for the first time how this new drug might work inside the body to safely dissolve clots while preserving normal blood clotting. These findings could help establish safer and more effective treatments for people affected by stroke.
