In August 2017, cave divers belonging to the Centro di Speleologia Sottomarina "Apogon" (Nardò - Italy) have been involved in the exploration of a coastal sinkhole located about 420 m far from the most known Karstic lake Palude del Capitano (pSIC IT9150013 – Apulian Caves data base n. PU/LE 1571). Both external and hypogean parts of the sinkhole have been interested by topographic, photographic and video documentation during the exploration activities in order to evolve a protection strategy for this natural and cultural heritage, according to the Apulian law 33/2009, through the regional data base of protected caves made up by the local Federation of Speleological Teams.
