Estimation of the potential years lost due to premature death, meaning death before the age of 70 or 75, according to the region where the person resided, the registered causes of death and by sex. It is calculated by summing the number of years between the age at death and 70 or 75 years for each premature death. PYLL rate is expressed per 100 000 age-standardised population under 70 or under 75. Causes of death are coded according to the 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10).
