Transcriptome studies in Ziziphus nummularia under drought stress. Ziziphus nummularia cultivar:Ziziphus nummularia

In present study 454 GS-FLX sequencing was used to identify the candidate genes involved in drought tolerance and to develop more EST-SSR markers in Z. nummularia. Ziziphus nummularia is one of the important drought tolerant crop native to the western India, south eastern Pakistan and south Iran. It is wildly distributed to dry and hot climate of north-western plains, central India and extending to dry areas in peninsular region. Very limited information of genomic and transcriptomic data of Z. nummularia are available in public database. Roche GS-FLX454 pyrosequencing of drought stressed Z. nummularia is good approach to generate large number of EST sequences responsive to drought and molecular marker characterization.
