Enterotoxigenic B. fragilis (ETBF) strains express a metalloprotease, termed B. fragilis toxin (BFT) inducing colonocyte E-cadherin cleavage and inflammatory cytokine secretion. ETBF is a causative agent of acute diarrhea among humans and livestock, and is correlated with active inflammatory episodes in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). For study of pathogenesis mechanism of this bacteria, we performed whole genome sequencing for completing sequence because there is only sequence with contigs. For this project, we used ETBF strain 86-5443-2-2, isolated from a piglet's stool sample in 1996 by Dr.C.Sears's group.
