Greek Loanword Spellings in Coptic
收藏资源简介:
Departures between the expected Coptic transliteration of a Greek lemma and the form actually attested, in Coptic manuscripts of the 3rd–13th centuries. Each record carries the graphemic context of the deviation, the lemma in both scripts, the manuscript, the dialect, the genre, the dating, and the position relative to the Greek accent. A self-contained browsing interface is included, which runs offline from a single HTML file, and every lemma links back to its entry at dioskoros.org. Only deviating spellings are recorded. The attestations spelled as expected are not present, and neither are the per-grapheme denominators, so a count here is a frequency rather than a rate. Passages, translations, edition and collection references are not included either. The thesis this data accompanies was awarded the IACS Award for Academic Excellence (best M.A. thesis) by the International Association for Coptic Studies, presented at the Thirteenth International Congress of Coptic Studies, Göttingen, 2026. Obtained, worked with and published as a derivative with the explicit permission of Prof. Dr. Tonio Sebastian Richter, principal investigator of the DDGLC project. RATIONALE.md in this deposit sets out the basis on which that permission was given. Derived from a snapshot of 2024-05-09 of the DDGLC database (Database and Dictionary of Greek Loanwords in Coptic, Freie Universität Berlin). That snapshot is work in progress and has been superseded; current data should be sought at dioskoros.org. RESTRICTED.md in the deposit sets out what is withheld and why it cannot be supplied by any party. Licensing: the dataset under CC BY-NC 4.0; the interface code under MIT.
