The Southern Ocean and Antarctic Ice Sheet heat contents, datasets for publication "A new paradigm for understanding Earth's marine ice sheets", Sergienko et al., 2026 (doi:10.1038/s41561-026-01941-2)

This repository contains datasets of the area density heat content of the Southern Ocean (SO_heat_content.nc) and the Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS_heat_content.nc) described in Sergienko et al. (2026). The Southern Ocean heat content is estimated using the climatological fields of the Global Ocean Physics Reanalysis, the Copernicus Marine Service (CMEMS) Global Ocean Physics eddy-resolving model (1/12 deg horizontal resolution, 50 vertical levels) (https://doi.org/10.48670/moi-00021). The Antarctic Ice Sheet heat content is estimated using the results of Dawson et al. (2022, doi:10.1038/s41467-022-32632-2, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6870567) and MEaSUREs BedMachine Antarctica.
