Number of subsidized electric vehicle chargers in Japan FY 2022, by type

As of the end of fiscal year 2022, Japan subsidized approximately 34.24 thousand normal and 8.51 thousand quick charging units for electric vehicles. While quick chargers provide a direct current generally charging 80 percent of the battery in around half an hour, normal chargers provide an alternate current of 200V or 100V, charging the vehicle between five to eight hours.
