This dataset contains de-identified qualitative interview transcripts and demographic data collected from 100 pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) nurses across ten countries (Saudi Arabia, Israel, United Kingdom, United States, Philippines, India, New Zealand, Nigeria, Russia, and Iraq/Iran). The dataset explores nurses’ stressors, emotional consequences, and coping strategies when caring for critically ill or dying children.
Data collection was conducted between January and June 2025 using semi-structured interviews via online platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger). All transcripts were anonymized and assigned unique codes (e.g., PH-01 for Philippines Nurse 1).
Contents:
1. Transcripts: 100 interview transcripts (text format, anonymized).
2. Demographics file (Table 1): Age, gender, years of PICU experience, shift patterns.
3. Themes file (Table 2): Coded themes, subthemes, and exemplar quotes.
4. Supporting documents: Interview guide, coding framework.
