Primary schools in Brussels, Barcelona, Rotterdam, and Paris : location, socio-economic indicators, green and blue land cover and tree cover indicators (2021)

This GIS dataset was created for the following scientific publication, as part of the EU-funded Cool Schools research project (under Grant Agreement No. 101003758) : Gallez, E., Mujica, C. P. Ecological Indicators, 166, 112374. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ecolind.2024.112374 The point layer Schools_all_4cities_VUB_Z.shp includes : the location of all primary schools in Brussels, Barcelona, Rotterdam, and Paris (n=1259) ; the administrative data such as the objectID, school name, and city ; socio-economic data (income and education) based on neighborhood-level open access data ; environmental indicators such as green and blue land cover (2018), tree cover (2018) and green and blue land cover changes (2006-2018), in 300m and 500m buffers around schools. Two additional polygon layers based on open access data are provided. These were used to calculate the previously mentioned indicators.
