Arabidopsis halleri is a Cd and Zn hyperaccumulator and thereby, is a promising candidate for phytoextraction. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of soil type, soil microbiome (fungal), and plant population on phytoextraction efficiencies (Cd and Zn) among four A. halleri populations: two each from contaminated (M_PL22, M_PL27) and uncontaminated (NM_PL14, NM_PL35) sites. Clonal replicates of A. halleri with contrasting Cd and Zn hyperaccumulation traits were grown in their native and the corresponding three soils, in a transplant experiment under controlled conditions.
