资源简介:
This research project deals with the anatomy of a curved orogen, the case of the Broken River Orocline in the northeastern Tasmanides (Australia) Oroclines record crustal and lithospheric-scale processes in active plate margins. In northeastern Australia, the Broken River Orocline is marked by the curvature of structural fabrics and tectonic elements. However, the geometry, structural evolution, and tectonic implications of this orocline are poorly understood. To address these issues, we carried out a detailed structural investigation in the inner part of the orocline. Based on field observations, structural data, aeromagnetic image interpretations, and paleostress reconstruction, our findings shed new light on the development of pre-, syn-, and post-oroclinal structural fabrics, and the broader tectonic implications in the context of the evolution of the eastern Gondwanan active margin. Beyond the regional implications, the results contribute to a broader understanding of orocline formation in convergent plate boundaries.
