RNAseq of Malassez cells infected by Porphyromonas gingivalis

The epithelial cell rests of Malassez (ERM) are located within the periodontal ligament between the tooth root and the alveolar bone, and are involved in the maintenance of homeostasis to maintain a constant thickness of the periodontal ligament. In this study, ERM cells were infected with oral bacteria and analyzed gene expression by RNAseq. RNA sequencing data analysis showed that infected cells had both 66 genes decreased and increased 6 genes expression comparing between infected cells and non-infected cells. The data analysis showed that the infected cells had modulation gene expression, indicating that the expression of genes associated with different roles in the response to infection.
