Investigation of whole genome gene expression level changes in colonic tissue response to DSS and CMFG administration Overall design: C57BL/6 mice (female, 8 week of age) were obtained from the SPF Biotechnology Co., Ltd, Beijing, China. Throughout the acclimatization and study periods, all animals were maintained on a 12 hr light-dark cycle (21 ± 2°C) under specific pathogen-free conditions and had access to food and water ad libitum. CMFG administration suspended in PBS was administered by oral gavage in CMFG + DSS group mice from day 0 to day 21. Mice in the DSS group underwent oral gavage of PBS. DSS colitis (DSS group and CMFG+DSS group) was induced by administration of 2.5% DSS (w/v; molecular weight, 36-50 kDa; MP Biomedicals, UK) in drinking water ad libitum for 7 days. Colonic tissues were immediately snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen and homogenized. Total RNA recovered from four separate group include DSS and CMFG with DSS.
