16S rRNA sequencing

The portable sequencing device MinION™ from Oxford Nanopore has demonstrated great potential for the next-generation sequencing community. This technology has been used for a great variety of genetic applications, ranging from whole genome analyses to real-time sequencing of viruses and bacteria. In this study, we tested the ability of the MinION™ sequencing device as a novel approach to profile tropical cyanobacterial communities in the marine ecosystem through near full-length 16S rRNA barcode amplicon sequencing.
