The diagnosis of viral lesions of the heart muscle, based on a convincing evidence base, remains one of the key problems of this pathology. Acute carditis can be a manifestation of any infectious disease. However, viruses are the most common cause (70-95%), especially in children in the first years of life, and in a third of cases, carditis develop against the background of superinfection.
