Soil salinity is asevere obstacle for crop growth and production that limits the growing fooddemands. Circadian clock confers plant fitness advantage by regulating manyaspects of growth and development. But how circadian regulate salt stress in riceis well unknown. Here, we characterized the OsELF4.1,a member of rice (Oryza sativa L.) circadian clock, which is involved in respondingto salt stress and crop production, providing a target to research the balancemaintaining between growth and stress tolerance simultaneously. Co-immunoprecipitation analysis confirmed that OsELF4.1 is able to form acomplex with OsELF3.1 and OsLUX, which is found to be required for salttolerance. RNA-seq data further reveal that OsELF4.1 involves in stressresponse pathway and abiotic stimulus response pathway, consistent with saltsensitive phenotype of oself4.1, oself3.1 and oslux mutant. By chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) quantitativePCR assays, we found that OsELF4.1 binding the promoter of GI which is a majorgene in regulating salt tolerance.
