Archaea and bacterial communities in micro-aerobic granular sludge

In this study, a continuous flow reactor with aerobic granular sludge was operated in the different aeration modes (continuous aeration -CA- and intermittent aeration -IA-) to examine the effect of aeration on the performance of continuous-flow system. During the whole operation, the removal of nutrients (carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus) and the characteristics of granules were monitored and analyzed. Furthermore, the dynamics of bacterial and archaeal community were analyzed via Illumina MiSeq sequencing.
