资源简介:
The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a psychoeducational programme in addressing the concerns of mothers with pre-menarche daughters in addition to improving their communication skills related to menstruation. The study recruited mothers of pre-menarche girls in urban Bengaluru using a qualitative research design and purposive sampling methods. The participants were categorised into six groups based on education and language proficiency. They participated in focus group discussions before and after a psychoeducation programme. The programme assigned a two-week homework task focused on having conversations about menstruation with daughters. Following the programme, the groups reassembled for further discussions. The data was transcribed and analysed using Atlas ti. Postintervention communication focused on menstrual health education, with mothers using simple language to normalise menstruation and creating a nurturing environment for daughters to seek help. Mothers expressed satisfaction with the knowledge but faced challenges due to religious and societal constraints.
