Samples collected from mares showing reproductive tract abnormalities were cultured on Columbia blood agar. DNA was extracted from isolated colonies using the GenEluteTM Bacterial Genomic DNA kit (Sigma-Aldrich) as per the companys protocol. The purity and concentration of the purified DNA was measured by Nanophotometer (Implen) and Qubit fluorometer. Sequence library was prepared using Ligation Sequencing gDNA (SQK-LSK110) kit (Oxford Nanopore Technologies) following the companys protocol. The DNA libraries were loaded on to primed R9.4.1 flow cells (FLO-MIN106) and sequenced in a MinION Mk1B sequencer (Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd) connected to the MinKNOW software.
