Wildfires with the highest death tolls in U.S. history 2024

The wildfire that struck the island of Maui, Hawaii in August 2023 resulted in 102 fatalities (as of June 2024), making it the deadliest wildfire in the U.S. for more than a century and the fifth deadliest in its history. 2023 recorded the highest number of deaths from wildfires in the U.S. for more than three decades, owing to the high loss of life in Maui that year.
