资源简介:
Description: Mycotoxins are toxic chemicals that adversely influence infant health into adulthood. Data is currently lacking on the in-vivo effects of dietary mycotoxins on the early-life gut microbiome. This study assessed the influence of mycotoxin exposure on longitudinal development of early-life gut microbiota of Nigerian neonates and infants. Results showed that the neonates and infants were exposed to diverse mycotoxins and their stool microbial community was very dynamic between month 1 and 18 post-delivery. Mycotoxin exposure was significantly associated with gut microbiome compositionality (PERMANOVA, p < 0.05), but there was no significant correlation between the presence or concentration of a specific mycotoxin and individual member of the gut microbiome. This study showed that mycotoxins may influence early-life microbiome composition and provides an important step towards understanding in-vivo interactions between mycotoxins and early-life microbiome. Sequencing was performed at the Joint Microbiome Facility of the Medical University of Vienna and the University of Vienna under the project ID JMF-2105-01
