Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the major cereal crops cultivated throughout the world, with the United States producing over 40 percent of the crop annually. Corn leaf aphid [CLA; Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch)] is an economically important pest of several monocot crops, including maize. In addition to extensive crop damage, CLA also acts as a vector for viruses that cause devastating diseases in maize.
