Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Marvells, 5 High Street, Stock, Essex, November 2024

This collection comprises images, site records, survey drawings, the Written Scheme of Investigation and project brief from an archaeological evaluation at Marvells, 5 High Street, Stock, Essex. Work was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust in November 2024. Previous investigations have uncovered significant archaeological remains close to the development site. Notably, these include the remains of a post-medieval tile kiln immediately east of the site. The current excavations revealed two post-medieval debris layers dominated by peg-tile fragments but also containing pieces of brick. This material and the presence of a vitrified brick fragment, found in a pit, are likely to be associated with the nearby tile kiln.
