A multi-disciplinary analysis of a non-toxigenic Clostridium difficile strain stable-resistant to metronidazole. Clostridioides difficile strain:7032985

Stable resistance to metronidazole in a non-toxigenic Clostridium difficile strain was investigated both at genomic and proteomic level. Alterations in the metabolic pathway involving the pyruvate-ferredoxin oxidoreductase were found, suggesting that reduction of metronidazole, required for its activity, may be less efficient in this strain. Proteomic studies also showed a cellular response to the oxidative stress.
