The dataset includes citations for published papers from which data were collected, plant species identity, plant species origin (native/non-native), phylogenetic distance between species pairs, mycorrhizal status of the plant species, N-fixing status of the plant species, ecosystem the study took place in, absolute latitude of the study, mean annual precipitation of the study, type of inoculant used in the experiment, fraction of inoculum used in the experiment, testing environment (field/greenhouse), soil training environment (field/greenhouse), testing community (individual/population/community), performance of the plant species (generally biomass), calculated plant-soil feedback and variance used in the meta-analysis.
