This contribution intends to enhance the figure and honor the work of Angiola Bianchini (1836-1915), whose high profile as a woman and educator is aimed at constant educational commitment in a historical period in which preschool and elementary education was just getting under way. The innovative vision of the Mantuan pedagogist is characterized by the centrality of the child and his needs to be welcomed and understood through the proposal of educational activities, aimed at satisfying his desire to know. Angiola Bianchini's profound and authentic interest in childhood translates into the start-up and direction of the first infant schools in Urbino and Fano, marked by the noble pedagogical teachings of Ferrante Aporti and F.W.A. Fröbel.
