Genome, transcriptome and miRNome of Biomphalaria tenagophila population resistant to Schistosoma mansoni infection

Schistosomiasis is a neglected disease that affects thousands of people worldwide. In its life cycle the cycle of the parasite, Schistosoma mansoni, depends on an intermediate host, Biomphalaria snails, to reach mature and infectious form for humans. In nature, there is a population of B. tenagophila that is totally resistant to S. mansoni: Taim population. Thus, this organism was the object of this study to better understand the biology of an intermediate host totally resistant to infection by S. mansoni.
