Gut microbiota of pre-smolt Atlantic salmon fed an insect meal diet

A commercially relevant reference diet and an insect meal diet, which contains 60% black soldier fly larvae meal, were fed to pre-smolt Atlantic salmon for 8 weeks. The digesta- and mucosa-associated microbiota from the proximal and distal gut were profiled by sequencing V1-2 regions of the 16S rRNA gene. Feed and water samples were also collected and compared.
