Prey choice in estuarine carabid beetles: habitat context, nutrition or morphology

This datasets contain data from controlled feeding trials investigating<br>
prey selection and foraging behaviour in carabid beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae).<br>
Four species were tested:<em> Carabus auratus, Carabus granulatus, Pterostichus niger,</em><br>
and<em> Poecilus versicolor.</em> Individual beetles were presented simultaneously with two<br>
prey types, earthworms (Lumbricidae) and amphipods (Gammarus sp.), in a<br>
two-choice arena setup. Trials were conducted between August and October 2024.

The dataset supports analyses of species-specific prey preferences, prey consumption rates,<br>
body mass changes, and locomotor behaviour during foraging. Additionally, the video-analysis.zip folder contains all pyhton scripts and example videos to replicate the analysis workflow of the detectiong and tracking model, including a separate ReadMe-file.
