Guidance on the implementation of BAT conclusions on intensive livestock farming

Plants for intensive rearing or rearing of poultry or pigs are subject to the Industrial Emissions Directive from a certain number of places. Therefore, so-called BAT conclusions should be used as a reference document for permit conditions for such installations. They describe the best available techniques (BAT). The guideline supports plant operators and the competent authorities in applying the BAT conclusions in intensive livestock farming. Calculation methods are proposed for monitoring ammonia, dust, total nitrogen excreted and phosphorus. The BAT conclusions apply immediately to new installations and existing installations must comply with them by 21/02/2021 at the latest.
