Abundance of ichthyoplankton in the southern Catalan coast during the "MAS" surveys (June 2005 and November 2005) [Dataset]

This dataset presents information on distribution, abundance and diversity of fish eggs and larvae, integrated throughout the water column, in June and November 2005 in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea. Results indicated that most fish species reproduce in early summer and fewer in the autumn mixing period. Summer samples were composed by a higher number of taxa belonging to both oceanic and shelf dwelling species, with dominance of two clupeiforms, Engraulis encrasicolus and Sardinella aurita in the shelf zone
