Dîwân-i-’Îsâ (ديوان عيسى).

Lyrical poems by ‘Îsâ, who flourished under Shâh Sulaimân Ṣafawî of Persia (A.H. 1077-1105=A.D. 1666-1694), as several of his ḳaṣîdas are in praise of that monarch; he therefore cannot be identical with an older poet, Ḳâḍî Masîḥ-aldîn ‘Îsâ of Sâwa, who flourished under Sulṭân Ya’ḳûb, and was killed A.H. 898=A.D. 1493 (see Muntakhab-alash’âr, No. 473, ib., col. 279, and Makhzan-algharâ’ib, No. 1596, ib., col. 352).

This dîwân contains:

A short preface in prose, on fol. 1b, beginning:

خورشيد سپاس متكلّم بيچون از آن رفيقه است كه مسيح قلم بدستيارئ مريم افكار الخ .

Ḳaṣîdas (several in honour of Shâh Sulaimân), ḳiṭ’as, and short mathnawîs, on fol. 3b, beginning:

ميزند آئينۀ حسن بتان جوش صفا

تا غبارى هست از خاكستر دلها بجا

Ghazals, in alphabetical order, followed by rubâ’is and fards, beginning, on fol. 65b:

يا رب از زنگ هوس پاك كن آئينۀ ما الخ
