Acoustic data for "A vocal record of the Ural owl (Strix uralensis) in a suburban secondary forest of Higashihiroshima, central Hiroshima, western Japan: an additional report from a new locality in the city"File name "20240419_213217.m4a": Recorded on April 19, 2024 at 21:32File name "20240419_213303.m4a": Recorded on April 19, 2024 at 21:33Notes on the study area:The audio recording of an Ural owl was made at a location (34°23’50.0”N, 132°43’14.5”E) near the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University (Kagamiyama, Higashi-Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, western Japan). The owl's call was heard from within the forest of Mt. Gagara. The recorded individual was calling "Gohou, Gohohho Gohou" in succession. The call was heard approximately every 30 to 40 seconds. Mt. Gagara is mainly covered with secondary forest vegetation of deciduous broadleaf trees, and the surrounding environment presents a mosaic landscape of a mixture of farmland and residential areas.Note: Spectrum visualization is available through open software or online sources (e.g., https://academo.org/demos/spectrum-analyzer/) by uploading the vocal files provided here.
