This series consists of correspondence relating to the review of the Property (Relationships) Act, 1984 (Act No. 147, 1984).The Law Reform Commission was inaugurated on 1 January 1966 (1) simultaneously with most provisions of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1965 (Act No. 32, 1965) and formally constituted by the Law Reform Commission Act, 1967 (Act No. 39, 1967). The Commission’s role was to review, simplify or modernise laws in response to community consultation.These records include memorandums, letters, submissions and discussion papers, including letters of legal recognition for same-sex relationships, property law as it relates to de-facto relationships and rights for children.The correspondence is arranged in chronological order in bound folders organised by type of documentation.Endnote:1.
