Conductivity, Temperature, Depth (CTD) are measured during cruises for the deployment and harvesting of bottom-landers: January 2022 (SeaBird 19+ CTD deployed to a depth of 100 m at each station): AEON1 NEC, AEON4 ECS, AEON5 WIB For an unknown reason, no data were recorded on the SeaBird during cast C-04 (AEON3 GEB). December 2022/February 2023 (SeaBird 19+ CTD deployed to a depth of 100 m at each station): AEON1 NEC, AEON2 ECS, AEON3 GEB, AEON4 JOB, AEON5 WIB March/April 2024 (SeaBird 19+ CTD deployed to a depth of 100 m at each station): AEON3 GEB, AEON4 JOB, AEON5 WIB April 2025 [RBR concerto CTD deployed to a depth of 100 m at each station; second deployment at four sites (AEON1 ECS, AEON2 NEC, AEON3 GEB, AEON4 JOB) to about 10-15 m above the bottom depth for a picture of the full water column): two casts at AEON1 NEC, two casts at AEON2 ECS, two casts at AEON3 GEB, two casts at AEON4 JOB, one cast at AEON5 WIB This collection represents the data collected from the Acoustic and Environmental Observation Network (AEON) in the U.S. Northwest Atlantic, developed and deployed 2021. The AEON network of five observation nodes complements existing oceanographic monitoring infrastructure in the Gulf of Maine. The observatory network provides simultaneous, long-term monitoring of soundscapes and multiple acoustically-relevant parameters such as marine mammal behavior and prey concentration at key locations where changes in the Labrador and Gulf Stream currents are projected to affect the Gulf of Maine. The lead P.I. for this project is Dr. Jennifer Miksis-Olds, University of New Hampshire (UNH). Dr. Miksis-Olds leads a collaborative research team consisting of individuals from UNH, JASCO Applied Sciences, Stony Brook University, and other collaborators.
