Despite the growing body of literature on BSF for organic waste valorization, its application specifically for the bioconversion of kitchen wastewater remains an unexplored research avenue. This study aims to address this critical knowledge gap by investigating the biological transformation efficiency of BSF larvae when reared on this challenging substrate. To achieve this objective, we conducted a controlled comparative study across four distinct substrates: (1) standard kitchen waste (KW), (2) fresh chicken manure (FM), (3) dry chicken manure rehydrated with water (DW), and (4) dry chicken manure amended with kitchen wastewater (DK). We employed 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing to profile the gut microbiome structure and identify the dominant bacterial communities across the treatment groups.
