Metagenomic Analysis of Scalp Microbiome Response to Enzymatic (Chitinase and Chitosanase) Treatment

The objective was to characterize the impact of chitinase-chitosanase enzymatic treatment on scalp bacterial composition in healthy volunteers. The study enrolled 4 volunteers.A 4*4 cm area was selected on the hairy part of the scalp. Pre-treatment samples were collected from these areas. Subsequently, 1 mL of the enzyme solution (containing 0.25% chitinase (100 U/g) and 0.25% chitosanase (200 U/g) was added to this area. After a 3-hour incubation, post-treatment samples were collected.
